2 Days of work, 2 Trips to Rona, but the deck is finally laid. Still one uneven part due to the chipped concrete below. Thinking about taking a plane to one of the supports to try and even it out.
The deck is actually in 5 pieces, so that we can pull up sections to sweep water off the balcony. The concrete is so uneven that we get pools of water that leak into the apartment whenever it rains.
There's still a lot of clutter with some left-overs from last year, but it's starting to take shape. Still pondering on the best way to get power out to the balcony, I'm considering drilling a 1/4" hole through the door frame and running some heave gauge wiring out through it, however, when we move, I don't want to be charged for "damages".
We have two pumps that will create 2 waterfalls and one fountain, in the pots visible in Picture 2. The BBQ is an electric one and needs power too.
There are 2 window boxes that we plan on planting this year, and a brand new bakers rack that can hold 3 rows of pots. There are the two green wall pots that will look great with trailing plants, but we'll have to see what's new and exciting at the gardening centres this year.
The trellis visible in Pictures 1 & 4 will most likely be replaced with an Applaro box and trellis from Ikea to match our Applaro Gate Leg Table (It's covered in Picture 1).
Hopefully we can find a nice cheap cabinet to replace the milk crates for some extra storage of soil, pots, etc.
Hopefully this site will be updated once a week until the snow flies. Last year's garden fizzled because of a death in the family and an experiment in planting vegetables which didn't really turn out. This year we plan to concentrate only on decorative plants and flowers.
